With falls in hospitals and care homes high in media focus, now would be a good time to consider viable solutions to reduce your exposure to cost and improve patient care and achieve CQC compliance. Each year, a typical nursing home with 100 beds reports 100 to 200 falls. Many falls go unreported. Medpage Limited T/A Easylink UK is one of the leading suppliers in the UK of patient fall prevention products with over 30 years of trading experience in the care sector. Our range of bed and chair rise alarms offer competitive pricing without compromise on quality.

A high percentage of falls can be reduced by environmental risk assessment. Inappropriate footwear, thick floor rugs and other trip hazards are attributable to preventable falls. Assistive technology is available to detect a person rising from their bed or chair and to detect a person leaving a room or wandering away from safety. At Medpage, we manufacture and distribute a comprehensive range of wireless alarms, designed and proven to substantially improve patient/resident safety at home or in care

A recent site survey at a Staffordshire Residential Home presented a challenge for the use of radio signalling care alarms. The home is a Tudor Grade II listed building of hard stone construction with 61 rooms and various lounges. The purpose of the survey was to assess the feasibility of using wireless fall prevention bed and chair rise alarms and specialist waterproof call pendants as the current nurse call system did not facilitate connection of auxiliary alarm products. Tests were performed at maximum range (furthest room to managers office) with our NMDTX long range addressable transmitters. The tests proved conclusively that reliable signalling was achieved throughout the building and beyond

The NMDTX transmitters provide personalised messaging alarm alerts to radio pagers or desktop caller display and can be connected through a Broadband Wi-Fi connection to enable signalling to a Smartphone. A resident’s name or room number along with the type of care sensor is displayed on carer pagers to quickly identify the location and reason for an active alarm

The cost of a wireless fall prevention solution for 12 residents with 4 staff pagers was under £2000.00. In comparison, a cable connected system independent of the nurse call system would result in excessive installation costs for wiring, redecorating, restrict alarm use to selected rooms only and would cause disruption to daily running of the home and resident routines with no portable alarm responders
