MEDPAGE MODEL MP5 BED MOVEMENT SENSOR FOR THE DETECTION OF NOCTURNAL CONVULSIVE EPILEPTIC SEIZURES
The Medpage® MP5 has been in use since 1996. During this time the Medpage® has helped thousands of caregivers and families detect nocturnal convulsive seizures resulting from excessive movement from a person in bed. The principle of operation is simple and reliable. Detected seizures are notified via a radio signal to a pager with a range of up to 100 Metres.
The Medpage® MP5 is used by hospitals, care homes and families worldwide for the detection of convulsive seizures and when used in accordance with the instructions for use will provide a fast response to on-going seizures of the Tonic-Clonic (Grand Mal) type.
The positions of the dials shown in the photograph represent an average setting for the detection of most convulsive seizures. Sensitivity of the bed sensor(s) can be increased to allow for thicker bed mattresses or milder convulsive seizures. Movement delay can be increased for people that move around more than normal during sleep to reduce false alarms.
Medpage Model MP5 is more suited to monitor one service user with epilepsy, it is possible to use more than one movement monitor with one or two alarm pagers. Make sure that you read the section on how the monitors work to check that it would be suitable.
For people with milder seizure movement, or people that sleep in a double bed or smaller children, the Medpage MP5 is available with a second bed sensor. See order code below. Each sensor has an independent sensitivity level control and both sensors operate via the movement alarm delay control. The MP5 is supplied with two pagers (one reserved as a standby) that produce vibration with tone sound. When the bed movement monitor detects a seizure the built in transmitter sends a signal to the pagers up to a distance of 100M.
