MEDPAGE MODEL MP5 Convulsive Seizure Detector

The Medpage MP5 incorporates a bed sensor for convulsive seizure detection and is equipped with a microphone for the detection of aural sounds. Three simple controls provide bed sensor and microphone sensitivity and movement alarm delay. The sensor is positioned under the patients mattress. Should seizure activity begin, the sensor detects the abnormal movement. When the movement has continued beyond the delay setting an alarm output is generated. The MP5 is equipped with a transmitter that sends an alarm signal to a radio pager. The MP5 is supplied with two radio pagers. The MP5 provides reliable seizure detection at an affordable price and is suitable for domestic and professional care use. The positions of the dials shown in the photograph represent an average setting for the detection of most convulsive seizures. Sensitivity of the bed sensor(s) can be increased to allow for thicker bed mattresses or milder convulsive seizures. Movement delay can be increased for people that move around more than normal during sleep to reduce false alarms.

Medpage Model MP5 is more suited to monitor one service user with epilepsy, it is possible to use more than one movement monitor with one or two alarm pagers.

Based on use in a single sized bed the minimum recommended age for this model is five years or 56 lb’s minimum weight. For smaller children sleeping in a cot (crib) see Medpage ST-2.  For people that sleep in a double bed the Medpage MP5 is available with a second bed sensor. See order code below. Each sensor has an independent sensitivity level control and both sensors operate via the movement alarm delay control.  The MP5 is supplied with two pagers (one reserved as a standby) that produce vibration with tone sound.  When the bed movement monitor detects a seizure the built in transmitter sends a signal to the pagers up to a distance of 100M.
