The Medpage MP-6 uses the same technology as the MP5 to detect convulsive nocturnal seizures. The MP6 is supplied with 2 x care giver pagers (one as a backup) that produce variable volume alarm tones with vibration or vibration only.
The MP6 monitor alarm circuits latch on when a seizure is detected. An LED stays lit and a built in low volume buzzer operates until the alarm is manually reset by pressing the red reset button.
The MP6 is equipped with a single bed sensor that is positioned in-between the bed base and bed mattress. A control is provided to fine tune sensitivity of the sensor to the user and type of bed they sleep in. A delay control provides delay on alarm to help minimise false alarms. Normal movements such as turning over or coughing will not cause an alarm.
The MP6 is supplied with a universal mains power supply adaptor to enable use in the UK, USA and Europe. The MP6 has battery backup providing in excess of 72 hours operation on backup power.
Setup of the alarm is very simple as there is a movement detect LED that lights when the sensor control is correctly set. The MP6 will send an alarm signal by radio transmitter to the alarm pagers at distances of up to 100 Metres (line of sight). In a building 50 Metres would be expected depending on the construction of the building.
The MP6 is equipped with an output socket that can be used to directly connect the monitor into a nurse call system or to a telephone auto dialler for people with Epilepsy that live alone and wish to have a remote alarm to contact relatives, friends or neighbours who can help them when a seizure is ongoing. The output socket can also be connected to a data logger to capture seizure activity and times.
